Like in any culture, Japanese kids grow up listening to the stories repeatedly told by their parents and grandparents. The boy born from a peach; the princess from the moon who is discovered inside a bamboo; the old man who can make a dead cherry tree blossom, etc. These short stories that teach kids to see both the dark and bright sides of life have passed traditional moral values from generation to generation. After hearing about the wish-granting Stony Cat, he decides to try and make an offering to lose his facade, only to meet Tsukiko who wishes instead to be more discreet with her feelings to become more adultlike. Who'd have thought the rumors of the wish-granting Stony Cat turns out to be true; transferring the facade that Yōto wishes to lose into a classmate who needs it more and making it difficult for Tsukiko to show even the slightest of emotions on her face. The three genres/themes that fit this the most are Comedy, Seinen and Love Triangle.
Explanation:
Comedy, it's funny.
Seinen, it's more for an older crowd. I categorize it as 'ecchi' but others might disagree.
Love Triangle, although it has "romantic" undertones, it's more of a classic love triangle more than anything. Supernatural is strong but I think love triangle predicament is stronger.
